Bathroom remodelers and guides for South Jersey

Everything on this site about remodeling a bathroom in Camden, Gloucester, Burlington, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties: the region’s most-reviewed bathroom remodelers ranked by Google reviews, what a remodel costs here in 2026 ($12,000–$25,000 for a full hall bath, $4,000–$8,000 for a powder room), and the permit line — like-for-like fixture swaps need none, moving plumbing or adding a circuit does. No remodeler has been vetted for the directory yet; that spot is open. Nobody pays to be ranked.

Fifteen remodelers are named on our bathroom list by review count, and none are linked — because none have gone through our review. The first one that does gets this card, a link from the list, and a directory profile. What we check: active NJ HIC registration, insurance, reputation. What we don’t do: sell rankings.

Three things to know before you get a bathroom remodel quote in South Jersey

1. Decide which kind of remodeler you’re hiring. South Jersey has two very different businesses under one Google category. One-day acrylic tub-to-shower conversion companies (several on our list in Cherry Hill and Berlin) install a manufactured system over your existing footprint in one to two days. Design-build remodelers in Cherry Hill, Marlton and Mount Laurel gut the room to the studs, tile it, and take two to four weeks. The price, the permit, and the result are different. Get quotes from the category you actually want — comparing a $9,000 conversion to a $28,000 gut remodel tells you nothing.

2. The permit line runs through the plumbing. Under N.J.A.C. 5:23-2.7, replacing fixtures and finishes in the same location — new toilet where the old one was, new vanity, new tile — is ordinary maintenance. Moving or adding plumbing, running a new electrical circuit, changing the exhaust fan ducting, or altering framing is permitted work with township inspections. Most full gut remodels cross that line somewhere. A quote should list which permits the contractor is pulling and the fee.

3. On a pre-1960 house, budget for what’s behind the tile. Collingswood, Haddon Township, Woodbury, Pennsauken and Gloucester City bathrooms routinely reveal galvanized supply lines, cast-iron drains, no vapor barrier and undersized venting once the walls open. Pre-1978 homes also trigger the EPA lead-safe rule if painted surfaces are disturbed. A 15% contingency on any house older than you are is not pessimism; it’s the average.

🛠️ SOUTH JERSEY TIP

A remodeler’s 13VH registration covers the general work, but the plumbing and electrical inside a gut remodel are performed under a licensed master plumber and licensed electrical contractor — either on the remodeler’s staff or as subs. Ask whose license the plumbing and electrical permits will be pulled under. If the answer is “we don’t need those,” the answer is a different remodeler. How to look up any NJ contractor’s license →
